4 SEO Tips for 2023

Blog SEO Tips for 2023

2022 could be considered as a quite difficult year for some SEO practitioners. Almost countless updates have been released by Google in 2022. Starting from helpful content, to the SpamBrain.

So, in 2023, what will SEO be like?

I personally think that Google will increasingly prioritize AI technology in terms of ranking. We could start to see the application from helpful content updates and SpamBrain updates. Both are equally focused on AI.

For me personally, the recent updates have been a joy. Not because the algorithm favors white SEO practitioner, but because there is something interesting to explore. There's is a new method to include creativity in order to adapt to the AI system.

Now to follow Google's rules in 2023, there are a number of things that I think need to be focused on.

1. E-A-T

E-A-T stands for Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness.

In short, Google wants content that appears on their pages to be written by experts and published by trustworthy websites.

For more details, here are the details related to E-A-T:

  • The expertise of the creator of the content
  • The authoritativeness of the creator of the content, the content itself, and the website
  • The trustworthiness of the creator of the content, the content itself, and the website

There are at least the first three points to focus on to build this:

First: start building a website or blog that suits your interests. If you want to be professional, we can build a team of writers who are experts in their topic.

Second: Displays author information on your published content. It would be much better if the author's profile is equipped with a bio, profile photo, and social media.

Third: Start building the brand or the website itself. You could do this by building Facebook Fanspage, Twitter, Instagram, and so on. This will really help Google recognize our brand more easily.

Important E-A-T concept in SEO

So, how do you know that your website meets the E-A-T criteria?

In simple terms, this is obtained when the site's content can appear frequently on Google Discover. Google itself says that it will display content on Discover from sites that have high expertise, authority and credibility (E-A-T).

From this, of course, we can also do research by looking at sites that often appear on Discover as a reference for building E-A-T.

2. Focus on User Experience

When you think about it, Google was created to help users. The algorithm is also made according to the wishes of the user.

Things like this is quite difficult to grasp since a lot of factor could affect it, like mobile friendliness, https, to creating content that makes users feel at home on our website. So make sure to improve user experience if you want to increase traffic or make a conversion.

3. Create Helpful Content

The helpful content algorithm is a strong reason why in 2023 we must start focusing on fixing this content problem.

For me personally, good content is not a content that have thousand words, but content that can really help users find the information they need. Because sometimes, long content can actually confuse readers. Therefore, we need to understand the right proportions in presenting the content.

Sometimes, we also need to understand the characteristics of the majority of readers before creating content.

I'd rather start building a strategy to 'get' backlinks instead of buying, making, let alone dumping tons of comment backlink. Avoid PBN, let alone spreading links here and there.

Start building a content marketing strategy so that our website can receive backlinks for free. Write interesting content so that other websites are interested in making our content a reference, and of course provide a link for free.

Through in reality, not everyone can be creative in building an SEO strategy.

My advice is, if you are still forced to use backlinks such as PBN, start building a neater strategy so that it is not easily detected by Google.

But of course this is short term advice. However, Google will continue to improve every year, creating more sophisticated algorithms in the future. You don't want all of your hard work disappear because of the new algorithm didn't you?
